Mrs. Case was a graduate of Michie High School and Holmes Junior College in Goodman, Mississippi. She was an outstanding basketball player in high school and college and loved to attend Union University basketball games in Jackson, Tennessee and loved to watch basketball games on television. Mrs. Case is survived by her brother Terrell Cox and wife Kay of Bethel Springs, Tennessee; two nephews, Larry and Kim Cox; her sister-in-law, Alcie Mae Case; cousins, Joann Stephens and Allean Surratt; and neighbors L. T. and Marge Howell who helped her so much. When her brother Terrell married Kay, Elois was "adopted" into Kay's family and spent holidays, birthdays, and many other special occasions with them. She always brought her "famous" carmel pie which everybody loved. Terrell and Kay's grandsons, Luke and Levi Johnson, were the love of her life. They were the grandchildren that she never had. She spent many happy times with them and showed their pictures to everyone. they knew when they got to Aunt "E's" house that she would have their homemade chocolate pudding waiting for them. They loved their Aunt "E" very much. Other than her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her step-mother, May Dell Cox, her brothers, Dr. Elmo Cox and wife Joy, Jerry Donald Cox, and her cousin, Billy Cox. Norvin and Elois never had children. They loved their nieces, nephews, and cousins as their own and were very close to all of them. They showed their love in return by being so good to her, especially since she has been in failing health.
She was united in marriage to Raymond Sweat who preceded her in death on August 13, 1991. Mrs. Sweat worked for Garan Manufacturing and retired from Harwood Manufacturing after a combined employment of more than 40 years. She was a member of the Adamsville First Baptist Church and a volunteer for the Adamsville Senior Citizens Center. Mrs. Sweat departed this life on August 25, 2010 in Jackson, Tennessee at the age of 82 Years, 3 Months, 28 Days. She is survived by a daughter, Patti Thomas and husband Jerry of Jackson, TN; a son, Mike Sweat and wife Jeannie of Germantown, TN; 9 Grandchildren, 4 Great Grandchildren. A host of other relatives and friends. In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Sweat was preceded in death by a son, Brad Sweat on April 7, 2010; a sister, Willie Holloway; two brothers, Earl Carroll, Carl Wayne Carroll.
The wife of Nicky Joe Pipkin, who survives, she worked at a waitress at The Hut Restaurant in Walnut and The Town Inn in Ripley. She also had worked for Federal Express and at Dover in Walnut prior to becoming disabled. She was born in Memphis, to Peggy Joyce McClintock Foster of Walnut and the late Joseph Kirby Foster and lived in Walnut for 40 years. She was a graduate of Walnut High School class of 1981 and a member of County Line Baptist Church. In addition to her husband, whom she married on August 6, 2004, and her mother, survivors include a daughter, Shena Foster of Walnut; a son, Ethan Ray of Walnut; two brothers, Barry Foster of Clarksville and Ronnie Foster of Walnut; and nieces and a nephew, Anna Luke and Adam Foster, Tammy David, Dana Arnold and Tina Witherspoon.
Mr. Smith was a printing pressman World Color in Corinth, Mississippi. He attended the Baptist church. Mr. Smith proudly served in the United States military during the Korean War. Mr. Smith departed this life on August 23, 2010 in Selmer, Tennessee at the age of 75 Years, 9 Months, 22 Days. He is survived by a daughter, Cathryn Heath of Michie, TN; a son, David Smith of Selmer, TN; a stepdaughter, Jerri Lynn Halfarty of Sarasota, FL; two brothers, Raymond Smith and Eddie Smith both of Philadelphia, PA and 8 Grandchildren. |


Elois Cox Case was born March 15, 1922 to the late Cecil and Luna Wyatt Cox in Stantonville, Tennessee. Her mother died when she was six years old and her brother Elmo was two. They were raised by their daddy, their grandmother Dora Cox, and their aunt Varner Cox, who all preceded her in death. She was united in marriage to Norvin Case on December 14, 1945. He preceded her in death on May 14, 1990. She was a retired teacher and garment employee.
Imogene Sweat was born April 28, 1928 in McNairy County, Tennessee the daughter of the late Edgar and Myrtle Smith Carroll.
Mrs. Pipkin passed away Wednesday at her home.
Fabian H. Smith was born November 1, 1934 in Trenton, New Jersey the son of the late John and Catherine Manjak Smith.
