Posted: March 9, 2010 Savannah, TN – Democratic candidate for District 7, Dr. Greg Rabidoux kicked off his “15 Counties in 15 Days” with a spirited listening stop at the City Hall in Savannah on February 27. Mayor Larry Lowery of Saltillo introduced him to the crowd of about 25 who came to meet the candidate and share their concerns. The Mayor said that Greg represented the positive change needed in District 7 and that by electing him to Congress they would make sure we had someone representing us who is of and for the people, not beholden to special interests and DC lobbyists. Rabidoux gave a brief glimpse into his background as a professor of American government and Constitutional law at Austin Peay University in Clarksville where he lives with his wife and son. He is also experienced as an attorney and mediator, and has served on the staffs of two members of Congress, both Democratic and Republican. He is the author of a recently released book Hollywood Politicos: Then and Now. Greg fielded a variety of questions about bringing good jobs to the district, raising our educational standards to prepare for those jobs, and the proposal by incumbent Marsha Blackburn to eliminate Social Security and Medicare through privatization. The current healthcare reform bills dominated the discussion. Before starting the session, Rabidoux asked the audience for a moment of silence to honor recently fallen Tennessee soldiers Captain Marcus Ray Alford and Chief Warrant Officer Billie Jean Grinder. Greg Rabidoux will finish up the listening tour this week with the final stops in Hickman, Cheatham, Davidson, Williamson, and Montgomery Counties. |
